Wataru Yoshizumi is a Japanese mangaka born as Mari Nakai on June 18, 1963 in Tokyo, Japan. She finished Hitotsubashi University as an economist to start combining her office work with manga writing. Her debut, a yomikiri (short story) Radical Romance, was published in 1984 (Ribon Original's summer issue).

Yoshizumi's most mangas target girls (shoujo manga) with later works for maturer readers in the josei genre. She's mainly published in Ribon and Chorus. Her mangas published so far are:
* Radical Romance (1984)
* Quartet Game (1988)
* Handsome na Kanojo (1988-1992)
* Marmalade Boy (1992-1995)
* Kimi Shika Iranai (1996)
* Mint na Bokura (1997-2000)
* Random Walk (2000)
* Ultra Maniac (2002-2004)
* Datte Suki Nandamon (2005)
* Cherish (2006)
* Happiness (2006)
* PxP (2007)
* Spicy Pink (2007)
* Cappuccino (2008)
* Chitose etc. (2009)

Manga Handsome na Kanojo (aka Handsome Girlfriend) is Yoshizumi's 1st big manga (published 1988 to 1992). Its 9 volumes underlay a 37-minute anime in 1991. The heroine, Hagiwara Mio, is a teen actress in love with her neighbor and coactor Morimoto Teruomi. Her drama role upsets her with its bossy antagonism against her friend Sawagi Aya. However Teru's part there makes Mio take the role. But when another coactor gets discontent with her job, her career becomes too problematic.

Another big shoujo is Marmalade Boy printed 1992 to 1995 in 8 volumes. Unlike Handsome Girlfriend, it underlay a full anime series of 76 episodes and a 26-minute animated movie. Besides, 1995 saw its Game Boy and Super Famicom-based game release. Miki Koishikawa's idyllic family life ended with her parents hosting another couple (as in swinging). Now she faces 4 parents, her cute stepbrother Yuu and their strange soap opera. But Miki escapes to a world of loving friends, hateful schoolmates and crushes on Ginta and Yuu!

Kimi Shika Iranai (aka I Need Only You) was released in 2 volumes in 1996. Young Totoki Atsumu tries to win back his only love Kurihara Akane. But her vague past makes that rather troublesome...

A 6-volume Mint na Bokura (We are Mint, 1997-2000) describes 2 close twins, Maria and Noel. To follow her in her new basketball school he has to pretend and play a girl due to no boy spots there! In a follow-up comedy Noel falls in love with a fellow girl, while being courted himself.

Random Walk, Yoshizumi's popular manga, came out in 3 volumes in 2000. The story depicts Yuka, a newly senior pupil next door to her mystery writer dad and his new wife. He taught Yuka only to live in love. In high school she looks for her one true passion. Will this always be just a dream?

Ultra Maniac (2002-4) underlay a 26-episode anime series in 2003 covering the 1st 3 volumes out of 5. It's Yoshizumi's 1st fantasy manga. There teenaged Nina Sakura hides her true identity of a transfer student from a fantasy witch school! At a real middle school she hopes to improve, socialize and charm her unaware fellows.

2005 featured Datte Suki Nandamon in 2 volumes about Moka's brother Megu returning from New York City. An art lover, at a library she meets Masato-kun whom she starts liking. But will Moka's determination change this latent playboy?

Yoshizumi's allegedly 1st josei, Cherish manga also includes Happiness. In Cherish its heroine Chihiro enters the university of her deceased mother and stepfather. She opens this new chapter with thrill but faces her past reminders! While ex returns, she feels someone's chase.

One-shot from 2 Happiness chapters was also published beside Cherish. In it young Akatsu-kun loves his cute coworker, Kayano-san. Once he saw a little boy reading Playboy in a store to realize he was Kayano-san's son!

Yoshizumi's another josei is a 2-volume Spicy Pink (2007). It shows Sakura, a busy shoujo mangaka without private life. At a goukon she meets a tough doctor who surprisingly starts courting her.

A 1-volume PxP manga (Baby It's You, 2007) is the author's mystery genre try. A school council discusses a strange case of "P", a mysteriously hired thief stealing only particular items.

One of Yoshizumi's latest complete mangas is Cappuccino (2008), also in josei like her most ones. It's a bittersweet love story of Kojima Ari and Fujitani Sousuke living together without marriage.

After writing over a dozen mangas for the last 15 years, Wataru Yoshizumi keeps pleasing her readers with new activity. So 2009 had Chitose and others released. As a social mangaka, Yoshizumi likes traveling and shopping. She also befriends fellow authors - Naoko Takeuchi, Ai Yazawa, Miho Obana and Megumi Mizusawa.

The History Of Reno's Mapes Hotel

On January 31, 2000, the historic Mapes Hotel in Reno was imploded by 75 pounds of explosives tucked into the art-deco structures support columns. The destruction of the Mapes put an end to years of efforts to preserve the building via lawsuits, redevelopment proposals, and grass roots action. The National Trust for Historic Preservation took up the cause of the Mapes, and challenged the destruction in a suit that eventually reached the Nevada Supreme Court.

While the efficacy and justification of demolishing the Mapes is debatable, one thing that is not is the glorious history of the hotel. It was built in'47, and signaled the start of the modern era of casino gambling. Despite the notoriety of Bugsy Siegel and the Flamingo in Las Vegas, it was the Mapes that became the first building in the nation to have a hotel, casino and live entertainment under one roof. It also became the hotel of choice for celebrities staying in Northern Nevada. Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe stayed at The Mapes during the filming of 'The Misfits'. Joseph McCarthy, America's famed anti-Communist crusader, admitted to a reporter over cocktails in the Mapes Lounge that he really didn't have a list of Communists in the US despite his frequent and vitriolic insistence to the contrary.

During the 'Rat Pack' era of the 50's and 60's it became along with the Cal-Neva Lodge in Lake Tahoe the place to be seen in Northern Nevada. The 11th floor, window walled Sky Room Lounge hosted performances by a roster of entertainment legends including Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis, Jr., Dean Martin, Louis Prima, Keely Smith, Milton Berle and Mae West. Downtown Reno struggled during the'60's and 70's but the Mapes continued to prosper. The hotel finally closed in'82, due to financial problems experienced by the Mapes Family brought about by their other Northern Nevada casino holdings.

While the last twenty years brought an amazing boom in the population and economy of Southern Nevada, the Northern part of the state didn't see much of it at all. For that reason, the urgency of destroying the Mapes is even more questionable. In the Las Vegas area, its easy to justify the demolition of older hotels with simple economics--the older properties simply can't compete in the current mega-resort dominated marketplace. Furthermore, the insane valuation of the land on which they sit makes it financially unfeasible to preserve them as pop culture museums.

This is not the case in Reno, where land and buildings for development in virtually every casino area are abundant. The city argued that the land on which the Mapes stood was necessary for their redevelopment efforts--a somewhat absurd position given the realities of downtown Reno and the lack of any real development on the property since the demolition. Despite receiving a number of viable concepts for the Mapes Building, the City Redevelopment Authority rejected all of them and the Mapes was destined for demolition.

The role of the City Redevelopment Authority was questioned throughout the process. Overlooking the Truckee River, the hotel was on a prime location between the downtown casino area and the riverfront district. A number of sound financial proposals were presented that would preserve the integrity of the structure including condominiums, office space, and perhaps most viable, upscale senior apartments. Oddly, all of these proposals were turned down by the citys Redevelopment Agency which continued to maintain that demolition was the only viable option despite copious evidence to the contrary.

Following the 2000 demolition, the lot remained vacant for over a year until a temporary ice skating rink was hastily constructed the following winter. The site now houses a permanent ice skating rink which, while not a bad use for the land, isn't the sort of game changing improvement suggested by the City Redevelopment Agency and their adamant insistence that the building be demolished. To the contrary, it appears they had no specific plan or even general idea of what to do with the land but for some reason wanted to see the hotel come down. This has led to all manner of speculation, ranging from financial self interest to a rumor that the structure was 'haunted' and needed to be destroyed to forestall future paranormal activity in Washoe County. Whatever the reason, the city of Reno lost a valuable landmark that played a significant part in the economic growth of the entire state.

5 Little Clues to Quitting the Gym Forever.

Gyms are massively overrated. Maybe you are going to one now, or you had a great experience with one before, but let me tell you that there are plenty of reasons to give up the gym and find another way to work out.

And hey, if you're in love with the gym as-is, then you've got nothing to worry about. But if you're thinking of a change, peruse these 5 reasons and make a new choice.

#5: Prices are Sickeningly High.

Gyms are unbelievably expensive for what they offer. Is there anywhere else in the world where you go maybe 2, 3 times a week, do all the work yourself, and pay extremely steep fees for the privilege? Hey, if you've got a great gym and can afford it, more power to you. But there are just too many out there that are complete rip-offs.

#4: You Don't Want to Become a "Gym Rat". Ever.

There's no other place in the world where you have to put up with the kind of people you do in a gym. There are tons of people there just to show off, and they come in and strut around in front of you just to boost their egos. Sure, if it's a beautiful woman or girls, a well-toned man, you probably don't mind, but otherwise, you've got better things to do.

#3: You Think People Wipe Down, But They Don't.

Sure, the paper towels (or dirty towels brought from home) and the little spray bottles are there, but really loads of people just don't bother to wipe down the machines they've been using before. You can block it out of your mind, but that only works until you sit down on a machine that is dripping with sweat and realize it is definitely not your own.

#2: No One Likes Repetition, Over and Over and Over and Over...

No matter how may audio books you go through, magazines you bring, albums you listen to, or variations in exercise you try and do, you'll eventually be repeating yourself in a gym, where - face it - you're confined into a little room for hours, doing the same repetitive movements over and over until you can feel a difference. Life is too short.

#1: Outdoors Equals No Costs and No Limits, Either.

If you're finally ready to cut the cord and free yourself from the oppressive confines of your neighborhood sweat-box, you'll discover a shining, dynamic, vital world outside its doors, once that allows you to go for a run in literally any direction you want, without a hassling machine setting your limits for you. You might also notice that this 'go anywhere' running doesn't cost over $100 a month. You're welcome!

Of Cheating and New York Playmates

Why do men cheat? I asked ever so casually. He took a long, feel-good drag and shook his head, as if to say “hell no, not this again”. Putting people in awkward situations is a bad habit I do not plan to change, not anytime soon. Doug was an easy target. Bring up any issue regarding relationships, women and sex and he just loses it. He shifted uneasily in his seat perhaps wishing he did not agree to meet up for breakfast. I promised we wouldn’t be discussing the recent issue involving him and nameless hot girls in New Jersey , but let’s just say not keeping promises is another bad habit of mine.

There are more women than men so men try to accommodate as much women as possible at one given time. That’s right, blame it on population, I thought to myself when he was done with his piece. He was waiting for my violent reaction. From the way his brows were arched and his lips were parted I could tell he was armed with a smug comeback. I chose not to verbally react, It was my turn to do the “hell no” shaking of head. He smiled foolishly and I knew exactly what thought just brushed his mind – New York escort service .

His recent escapade with escorts in Brooklyn NY cost him his three-year relationship with every-guy’s-dream Patrice. Doug seemed to have forgotten he had little miss heartthrob all to himself when he set eyes on the infamous New York playmates . The problem with guys is they don’t seem to be satisfied. They collect and collect then select, acquiring women like prizes of war. Take in Doug for example who just met girls in Brooklyn NY and found himself suffering from fleeting amnesia.

I know a couple other guys like my dear friend Doug who get weak in the knees at the mere mention of hot women. They claim to be loyal and committed to their mates but buckle at the idea of steamy affairs, with other women nonetheless. “It’s just sex” is the line I would often hear. They say it’s not exactly cheating because there’s no emotional attachment whatsoever. Men could be such dogs and we just have to live with it. And since there are more women than men, maybe some women would consider batting for the other team.

When you get a magazine subscription it is wonderful because you can get daily news, celebrity news, pet information or even just funny news that comes right through your mail and it is such a good price I do not know why everyone has not tried it yet.

I love all kinds of magazines and I get really excited when I finally get one in the mail. I can not wait to sit down and read it. Most companies will offer you a great price for a year on their magazines. I have actually considered getting a many number of subscriptions but sometimes I never do.

I love to get magazines because I like to read up on the news and what is going on with celebrities. I have always wanted to be an actress and I think reading up on them makes me feel better about not being one myself.

I enjoy a magazine more when it has a lot of information in it. I like to look at pictures of fashion, pets and also vehicles. My fiance usually gets truck magazines and these can be expensive at times. If he gets a subscription then it is not a bad price at all.

Magazines cost so much more in the store that they do through the company. I guess this is because it is more convenient to buy them in a store. Magazines are very informative and are worth getting if you make sure you enjoy what you are getting.

You should never pay fifty dollars a month for a magazine in my opinion, because it is not worth it to buy something you only get about twelve times a year. I try to limit myself to buying only a couple magazine subscriptions and it only costing me about thirty dollars a year. You can make your own judgement and this is your choice because you are the one who is paying for them.

Duck Hunting Games

It is easy to download duck hunting games on your computer or you can buy them at the store for your Nintendo. There are many variations of these games and some are made for younger audiences with funny ducks, while others are made for real hunters and feature blood and guts.

I remember playing Duck Hunt on the first Nintendo when I used to be a kid back in the 80s. Video games and duck hunting games have evolved since they were introduced in the 1970s.

Nintendo duck hunting games are nostalgic now with the plastic gray light gun. Today's games are so real and 3d that it almost feels like you are part of the game.

Video arcades today have games more advanced than nostalgic duck hunting games. These games cost tens of thousands of dollars to make and sometimes several dollars to play for a few brief minutes.

Video arcades make most of their money from modern advanced video games with super 3d graphics and lifelike simulations. Duck hunting games and other classic video games do not stand a chance to make money unless it is someone who is just playing for the nostalgic effect. Modern video games are all about violence and entertainment value rather than just pure fun.

Some of today's modern day video games cost several dollars to play. When I was younger most video games were a quarter and even the best ones were only 50 cents.

Playing duck hunting games and other Nintendo games when I was younger was alot of fun, but also a huge waste of time. I was so addicted to video games at one point that I rode my bike almost 5 miles on a Sunday to the greatest arcade in the city. It is too bad that the video game in a modern day arcade are so new and expensive compared to the old school video games I grew up with.

I quit playing video game on both my laptop and Nintendo Wii and sold them at a garage sale. My nephew is so addicted to video games that I just decided to stop playing them altogether so I would not end up like a complete video game junkie.

Playing duck hunting games for a few minutes is a good way for me to escape and have fun. It is not like playing Halo where I would play for hours and totally disrupt my daily and weekly routine because I had to finish the next level.
