Their friendship has problems through their opposite personalities and views, rivalry over the same love-interest, their reactions to the Wizard's corrupt government, and, in the end, Elphaba's public fall from grace.

Wicked the musical premiered at San Francisco's Curran Theatre in May 2003. Knowing this, and no matter Glinda's attempts to dissuade her, Elphaba vows to do in her power to fight the Wizard and his sinister plans against the Animals of Oz. She sings of how she wants to live without any limits, contrary to the rules that others have set for her. During the song, Elphaba enchants a broomstick to levitate and, chased by the Wizard's guards, rises from the stage above the angered citizens of Oz, who try in vain to bring her down.

The staging of the Wicked "Defying Gravity" climax features several special effects.
Michael Jackson Thriller was the number one selling album of all time and was the sixth album that was put out by Michael Jackson. Epic records released this album in November of nineteen eighty two. Thriller followed another famous album Off the wall which was released in nineteen seventy nine.

Between off the wall and thriller Jackson went through a lot of changes. Between this time Jackson was having a lot of family problems. Including his father going through an affair with another woman that was twenty years younger than him and also having a child with the same woman, and then later telling his family about it.

Thriller made Jackson one of the most famous people in the twentieth century and this allowed him to break some barriers of racial people. Some of the reasons he was able to break the racial barrier that people held was because of his meeting with Ronald Regan at the White house. This album and song was one of the first to make famous the Use of Music videos to promote songs.

Thriller is a lot like the album off the wall because it follows genres like funk and disco. To describe thrillers lyrics I would have to say they are like experiencing paranoia and the supernatural.

Thriller was also preserved to the National Library of Congress and they deemed it "Culturally significant". Jackson's other album off the wall was a huge success but not as largely known as Thriller although it did receive favorable reviews just like thriller.

Between Jackson's release of off the wall and Thriller he was going through many problems with his family. Jackson's father began an affair with a woman that was twenty years his youth in nineteen seventy three, and this in turn resulted in a child. Then in nineteen eighty his father finally told his family about the child. Michael was already mad at his father over the child abuse that he had gone through. After all this Jackson still was able to produce the biggest selling album of all time, which he called "Thriller".

Everyone, whether a novice or an full-fledged music maker can be solid at audio creation and the trick is to know that what weighs is the meaning of your music and not how flashy it is. If you take the time to hear to most of the huge music hits, you see there is more than just the way they sound.

You may have really nice musical rhythms with a nonmeaningful song and you can be sure it is not going anywhere. Sound creation that are positive and has some significance the listener can discover with may just be followed with simple sounds which builds it great.

Give your song some exotic beats loud enough to bring the house down with some boring lyrics and you will be in for a surprise. People don't want the loudest song ever created but want something they can enjoy listening to.

A song is like a story and its substance depends on the theme you have established it upon. There are effects you can report in your song that the listeners will find very real and relevant. Not all ideas are good for audio creation but there are those that will always form great hits. A good song is the one which somebody can listen to again after some years and still find it significant and pleasurable.

Before you create your music, you may remember of giving it to some few individuals and gain their thoughts. Their comments may be helpful specially if they are among your target audience. Having and applying feedback is one way to make great music since you will be gratifying the listener rather than delighting yourself.

Most of the great music makers have credibly gone to school to add some knowledge to what they know and having it coupled with the born gift they have in music, you can ever expect hits from them. You can also learn how to prepare your words or lyrics to bring out the implied meaning clearly. Sometimes help might just be what you need and you can ask somebody to help you pen down it but with some practice, you'll be a professional in sound production in no time.

Who is the Best American Rock Group in History?

As I was catching up on the music world last week, I found myself reading an article with the published results of a survey. This survey polled American music fans, asking them who they felt the greatest rock band in American music history was. You might be surprised by the fact that more people voted Pearl Jam than any other band.

It might be one thing if they were referring to the best alternative band, or if they polled people 30 years old and younger, asking them who the best American rock band of their lifetimes was. It wasn't that though.

Then I started thinking about things. Who would normally be chosen as the best rock bands of all time? The Beatles. Perhaps some would go with Led Zeppelin. Others might choose a band like the Rolling Stones.

I'm a music lover, but I have to admit that I was wrong here. Every band I thought of either hailed from another country, or simply didn't have the depth of musical hits that Pearl Jam did.

There are a handful of other bands that one could consider, like Guns 'N Roses, Bon Jovi, REM, Nirvana, and a handful of additional ones, but none compared to Pearl Jam.

As weird as it sounds to say this, it seems like Pearl Jam may be the best American rock band of all-time. I'm not sure if any rock bands produced more hits than they did through the decade, not to mention the fact that they sell out arenas religiously whenever they tour.

Not only were they big in the 90s, but they're still producing some great music today. Take their latest release, Backspacer, for example. This album is packed with catchy songs, and almost 20 years later, the band has produced one of it's best records yet.

Eddie Vedder and the rest of the band pioneered an alternative rock movement in the early 90s with their Seattle brand of the genre, but they've evolved with the times, staying true to their sound at the same time. It's no wonder they still have so many devoted fans.

The Isle of Wight Festival 1969

The 1969 opening of the Isle of Wight Festival was held at Wootton on August 30th and 31. It was extremely popular, having attracted approximately 150,000 people. They flocked to the festival in orer to see Bob Dylan, The Who and Free. This was the second of three legendary festivals held on this island and they were all held between the years of 1968 and 1970. The 1969 festival was considered to be well managed and comparatively trouble free, the 1970 event was anything but. Jimi Hendrix, Chicago, The Doors, The Who, Joan Baez and Free played to a crowd of up to 800,000 people that year. In 1970, the opposition to the festival was much better organized than they had been in previous years. The Isle of White has always been a favorite retirement destination for those that were well to do. It has been a paradise for the yachting set. These well heeled, more traditional minded residents resented the invasion of the hippies and freaks. Renting a few acres in order to hold the music festival had been easy in the earlier years, however in 1970, the festival location was subject to a council / committee approval and the residents lobbied hard against it. This resulted in the festival not gaining entry to their preferred location and settling for East Afton Farm, Afton Down. It seemed that this location was deliberately selected for its inadequacy for the purpose. One thing that happened was that the location made it possible for a large number of people to camp out on a hill that overlooked the festival, they got to view the whole thing for free. The Isle of Wight Festivals had already amassed a strong reputation in 1968 and 1969, greats such as Jefferson Airplane, T. Rex, The Move, Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan and Pretty Things had already performed there. The Who was in their foundation phase when they took the stage at the festival. The organizers of the festival, Fiery Creations, were determined that the 1970 event would be legendary and even under adversity, the festival definitely reached epic proportions. If you consider the fact that the island resident population is approximately 100,000, it's quite a feat to pull in over a 150,000 in 1969 and then up to 800,000 in 1970. The 1970 festival marked the end of the life span of the festival on the Isle of Wight for thirty-two years.

The artists that performed at this festival were astounding, they were very popular, very ‘in demand' artists and they drew crowds strongly. With Bob Dylan at the microphone for the 1969 festival, there were members of the audience that were as notable as the performers on the stage. Among the 150,000 people were John Lennon with Yoko Ono. Ringo Star, and George Harrison were also present. The Rolling Stones were in the audience along with Keith Richards, Bill Wyman, Eric Clapton, Elton John and Jane Fonda. With the legends of music on stage and off, who wouldn't want to have attended such an event?

The Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Review

I think because of the massive amount of attention that is given to this album's so called "historical significance" that sometimes not enough attention is given to the music itself. I hope to correct that imbalance with this review which focuses entirely on the album's 13 tracks.

01. "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" - This opening track really sets the mood for the entire album. The song shifts styles abruptly just like the album does from song to song. And of course the crowd noise and the entire "Sgt. Pepper" concept are introduced here.

02. "With a Little Help from my Friends" - I know there are quite a few people who think that Joe Cocker really did the definitive version of this song, but I'm definitely not one of those people. I like Cocker's version, but the original contains the real magic to my ears.

03. "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" - One of the bands most famous songs. This is a great one to listen to in mono (you have to get The Beatles in Mono Box Set) because it sounds so much different in mono than it does in stereo. There's a lot more effect on the vocal in mono!

04. "Getting Better" - The "it couldn't get much worse" lyric that Lennon added to this McCartney song is such a great example of the way that Lennon and McCartney made each others songs better even when they weren't righting them "eyeball to eyeball" like in the early days.

05. "Fixing a Hole" - Tracks 4 through 6 are a beautiful slice of McCartney magic and I think this is actually my favorite of that great trio of songs.

06. "She's Leaving Home" - More great lyrics from Paul McCartney. What a gorgeous song too. Paul was definitely at the top of his game in 1967.

07. "Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite" - How brilliant is it that these lyrics were taken entirely from an 1800s circus poster that Lennon came across? I believe a big part of real genius is being able to be inspired by things that most people wouldn't notice. This is a good example of that.

08. "Within You Without You" - This is a song that gets a lot of hate by a lot of people and that makes me sad. It makes me feel like they don't really "get it." This song is an essential part of what makes this album so brilliant.

09. "When I'm 64" - Some people don't seem to get how "tongue in cheek" this song is. McCartney loved to mess around with different musical styles in this way. In fact I think Ween sort of ripped off their whole shtick from Paul McCartney. Listen to McCartney's "fruity" songs (as George Harrison called them sometimes) from the perspective of Ween doing them and I think maybe they'll click.

11. "Lovely Rita" - I have to admit that tracks #10 and #11 are probably my least favorites on the album. But considering I quite like both of those tracks, that says a lot about how much I love this album.

11. "Good Morning Good Morning" - My least favorite song on the album. Yet I still think it's pretty great at times and it has some very interesting elements. I think that says a lot about how much I love this album.

12. "Sgt. Pepper's (Reprise)" - This one is even better than the album opener. It rocks something fierce!

13. "A Day in the Life" - This is the best example of John & Paul combining their ideas to be something greater than they were on their own. This is also the best song ever recorded by anyone. It's just pure brilliance.
